FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –

Conway, SC (September 6, 2019) – The City of Conway will move to OPCON 2 (Level 2 Operation Condition) at noon on Friday.

The City will shut down its public information help line at that time.

The Emergency Operations Center remains activated, but emergency operations will switch to recovery efforts. Those recovery efforts include debris cleanup and traffic control points in flooded areas.

A few roads remain closed due to flooding. An updated map of all road closures can be seen here: http://www.cityofconway.com/news_detail_T6_R257.php.

There will not be a curfew tonight in the City of Conway. However, drivers are still asked to use caution with possible downed power lines, debris, and ponding on the roadways.

We would like to remind all of our residents:

  • Do not walk, swim, or drive through flood waters. Turn Around, Don’t Drown!
  • Just six inches of moving water can knock you down, and one foot of moving water can sweep your vehicle away.
  • Don’t drive around barricades.
  • Stay out of water near electrical outlets and equipment.
